Department: PCH-MAIN | Language Services Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8:30am-5pm Posting #: 980895 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary This position provides language interpretation services between patients, families and healthcare team to ensure comprehension of cultural considerations during treatment planning. Position Duties Interpret between patients, families, and the health care team in English and a foreign language, ensuring understanding of needs, issues, and concerns. Provide consecutive interpretation following national standards of practice and ethics. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of interpretation activities. Participate in department and hospital-sponsored educational programs to maintain skills and competencies. Work closely with translators to identify documents, materials, and other written information requiring translation. Refer identified psychosocial issues to social work, child life, pastoral care, or other family‑centered care departments as part of the health care team. Position Qualifications Education Completion of a medical interpreter training course that is consistent with national standards. (Required) Completion of Spanish Bilingual Assistant or equivalent training. (Required) Experience Six months of experience in a health care setting. (Required) Special Skills Experience with interpreting in foreign languages as spoken and understood by patients and families served by the Hospital.
