Job Description

Description:

NAYA Family Center is seeking a trauma informed and experienced Domestic Violence Advocate to join our Family Services Department within the Healing Circle Program. This role provides culturally specific, trauma-informed support and case management for Native American-identified survivors of domestic violence. You will work closely with participants, community partners, and team members to ensure safety, access to resources, and survivor-led advocacy.

NAYA offers an exceptional benefits package, including free medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees (with affordable options for family members), a 401(k) retirement plan with a 6% match, paid vacation, and 16 paid holidays. This is a full-time position between the working hours of 9am - 6pm Monday through Friday, that may include evenings and occasional weekends as needed.

The pay for this position is $27 hourly.

Who You Are:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, or 3+ years of experience supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence; applicable lived experience is considered.
  • You are knowledgeable about the justice system, local victim services, and culturally specific support for Native American communities.
  • You are experienced in trauma-informed, survivor-led, and harm reduction approaches.
  • You have strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
  • You are able to manage a high-volume caseload (10–15 participants) efficiently and remain composed in stressful situations.
  • You are proficient with computer tools, including MS Office, web-based research, and database systems for case management (e.g., ETO, Counselor Max, SAGE).

What You'll Do:

  • Provide individualized case management, including crisis intervention, safety planning, goal setting, and advocacy for legal, medical, and housing needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, completing intakes, danger assessments, goal plans, and required documentation.
  • Assist participants with accessing public benefits, protective orders, and other resources.
  • Coordinate wraparound services and collaborate with other NAYA programs and community partners.
  • Participate in program, department, agency, and community meetings as assigned.
  • Provide navigation services at the Gateway Center for Domestic Violence one day per week.
  • Uphold trauma-informed practices and culturally specific support for all participants.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and complete VAWA compliant releases of information as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Healing Circle Manager and Family Services Director.

Application Instructions Providing a cover letter helps us best understand your interest in the role, so we encourage you to submit one along with your resume. If you need accommodation during the application process, please email jobs@nayapdx.org.

NAYA is committed to building a work environment that respects and inspires every community member. Our mission is to serve Urban Native youth and families, so we strongly encourage Native people to apply.
