Hours: 48 hours/week, Mon.-Sat. 8 hours/day, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. The hours may vary during different times of the crop season.

Job Duties: Load and unload crops or containers of materials, manually or using conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers. Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery. Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment. Maintain farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools. Load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks. Direct and monitor the activities of work crews engaged in planting, weeding, or harvesting activities. Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops. Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information. Walk beside or ride on planting machines while inserting plants in planter mechanisms at specified intervals. Drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers. Guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, and to discard diseased or rotten products. Position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers. Drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops. Till soil, plant and cultivate grain. Tow harvesting equipment. Drive and operate self-propelled combine. Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs. Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting. Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops. Harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them. Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping. Record information about plants and plant growth. Maintain inventory, ordering materials as required. Maintain farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Crops: Alfalfa, Corn, Oats, Small Grain, Soybeans, Spring Wheat, Sugar Beets.

Worker must be available and willing to work the entire season.

Worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures and varying weather conditions.

Employer maintains a drug, and alcohol-free workplace. Post-hire drug testing is required at no cost to the worker.

Employer requires a post-hire criminal background check at no cost to the worker.

Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment.

Minimum Education Required


No High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required


Three (3) months of verifiable experience relevant to the job is required. Worker must demonstrate the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

Worker must be able to speak and understand English.

Worker must be able to obtain a valid driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire and maintain a clean driving record to operate company vehicles.

Worker must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to sixty (60) pounds.

Worker must be able to perform work that requires exposure to extreme temperatures.

Additional Compensation


Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional compensation or benefits at the employer's discretion.

As required for all workers in Minnesota, hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.

EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.

Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year.
